KUCHING, May 21: An unemployed woman today pleaded not guilty to possessing a forged RM20 note at a supermarket in Jalan Nanas Barat on March 6.

Sessions Court Judge Mohd Taufik Mohd Yusoff fixed Sept 5 and 6 for trial.

Chia TF, 52, allegedly had the forged currency with her at 8.30pm, and the charge was framed under Section 489B of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term that may extend to 20 years and shall liable to a fine, if convicted.

According to the charge sheet, Chia was shopping for groceries at the supermarket and was told by the cashier that the money she used to pay was forged. The cashier advised her to lodge a police report, but she allegedly refused to do so. The supervisor of the supermarket then lodged the report.
