Jobless man fined RM5,000 for stealing 7m of electric cables

KUCHING, March 20: An unemployed man was fined RM5,000 in default 12 months’ jail after he pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court to stealing seven metres of electric cables.

Sufian Basri, 35, was charged with stealing electric cables owned by Sarawak Energy Berhad at Jalan Datuk Marican Salleh at about 9.30am on March 13 this year.


He was charged under Section 379 of the Penal Code, which carries imprisonment that may extend to seven years or fined or both.
