Jobless man fined for drug possession

KUCHING, June 13: The Magistrate’s Court today fined an unemployed man RM2,500 in default 5 months’ jail after he pleaded guilty to possessing dangerous drugs.

Mohd Nazaruddin Salihin, 24, from Kampung Bintawa Hilir, was found to be in possession of 0.02 grams of methamphetamine at his house in Kampung Bintawa Hilir here, at about 1.30pm on May 11 this year.


He was charged under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act and punishable under Section 12(3) of the same Act, which carries a maximum fine of RM100,000 or imprisonment term that may extend to 5 years or both, if convicted.
