KUCHING, June 13: An 18-year-old girl was today ordered to be sent to Sekolah Henry Gurney Perempuan Keningau, Sabah, until she reaches the age of 21 for stealing from a hypermarket here last month.
Magistrate Nuruhuda Mohd Yusof meted out the sentence after the accused pleaded guilty to stealing eight pieces of clothes from Giant Hypermarket Tabuan Jaya at about 4.15pm on May 10.
She was charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term that may extend to 10 years and with fine, if convicted.
DPP Danial Ilham prosecuted, while the accused was not represented. — DayakDaily
