SERIAN, April 8: The government will set up more Sarawak Service Centres in other divisions while at the same time increasing the type of services offered.

In pointing this out, State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion said such an effort would help to provide better and faster services to the people dealing with government departments, government agencies and government link companies (GLC).

“At the moment, the State has five Sarawak Service Centres, which are located in Kuching, Sri Aman, Sibu, Miri and Serian, and we are looking to establish more in other divisions in the future, and over time we will add and improve the services offered at the existing centres,” he told reporters today.

He earlier launched the Sarawak Service Centre in Serian, located at Serian Administrative Centre, here.

Earlier, he said the Service Sarawak was launched by Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on Dec 2, 2018 towards the transformation of the State civil service.

According to him, more than 1.1 million customers have patronised the centres, involving more than 1.9 million transactions.

On the centre in Serian, Jaul said it begun operations since September last year, and has handled more than 28,000 customers involving more than 41,000 transactions.

The centre in Serian offers 51 types of services from 38 government agencies, and among the services provided are application of water and electricity meters, and many more.
