MUKAH, Sept 17: Six Indonesians with expired travel documents have been arrested and 17 fake guns confiscated from them during a raid early this morning at Jalan Orang Kaya Setiaraja.

Mukah district police chief DSP Mohamad Rizal Alias said in a statement that a team from the Immigration Department and the State Security and Enforcement Unit in the Chief Minister’s Office had raided a house at 3.05am at the said place under the Immigration Act.

However, they not only found the six Indonesians, who were holding expired travel documents but also 17 fake guns of various models, together with 12 bullet shells and 12 packets of softball bullets.

“The imitation guns, 12 bullet shells, 12 packets of softball bullets and two vehicles worth RM40,000 were later seized from them,” he said.

He added that based on initial investigations, a 27-year-old suspect had brought in the guns from Indonesia and was planning to sell them to a local paintball buyer.

However, he failed to do so due to travel restrictions.

“They are now being detained for investigation under Section 36 (1) of the Weapon Act 1960 and the Immigration Act 1959/1963,” he said. — DayakDaily
