Indonesian murder suspect arrested in Pantu, Sri Aman

KUCHING, April 18: An Indonesian man suspected of murdering his fellow countryman at a palm oil plantation in Pantu, Sri Aman was arrested yesterday afternoon.

According to a report by TVS, Sri Aman District Police Chief Superintendent Dennis Bunyam confirmed that the suspect, a 25-year-old man, was apprehended at 12pm in an open area near the plantation’s workers’ quarters.

The arrest was made by a special operation by a team from the Sri Aman District Police Headquarters (IPD) and a team from the D9 Division of the Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ IPK).

According to him, the arrest was made possible following a public tip-off and the swift action of the police team.

“The police would like to express their utmost appreciation to the public who provided information that led to the arrest of the suspect,” he added.

The suspect is being held under Section 302/435 of the Penal Code to assist in further investigations.

On Wednesday, an Indonesian man was found dead at the Golden Fame Plantation in Pantu, Sri Aman. Authorities believed that the victim was hacked to death with a machete during an altercation with the suspect. – DayakDaily
