PANTU, Sept 29: The RM265.5 million 42-kilometre road linking Muding, Tuba, Ipoh and Mentu is expected to improve market access for agricultural produce while making daily travel easier for residents in the four rural communities.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan said better connectivity would allow agricultural produce from the four villages to be transported to nearby towns and urban centres more efficiently.
He said the project would also shorten travel time and make it easier for residents to access markets, clinics and government offices.
“This project will shorten travel time and, at the same time, make residents’ daily affairs easier by allowing them to get to markets, clinics and government offices faster, more safely and comfortably once it is completed,” he said.
He said this when officiating the Randau Ruai event at Rumah Achang Mumin, Muding, here on Sunday (Sept 27).
Snowdan, who is also Balai Ringin assemblyman, said the improved road network would strengthen connectivity between the four communities and nearby areas.
He also urged that the project be implemented according to schedule to support Pantu’s development and improve residents’ living standards.
The road is being implemented by KKDW in collaboration with JKR, covering the four communities of Muding, Tuba, Ipoh and Mentuz
At the same event, he announced RM15,000 in Minor Rural Project (MRP) funding for the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Rumah Achang, Muding, and RM5,000 for its women’s bureau.
Also present were Pantu District Officer Raca Mulong, Sri Aman Division Land and Survey Department Superintendent Michaelson Nyisin, JKR officers, government agency personnel and contractor representatives. — DayakDaily
