KUCHING, April 18: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has revealed that a candidate for the position of Affin Bank chairman has been identified, but the final decision is still subject to procedures set by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).
“There is a candidate, but we still need to follow procedures from Bank Negara,” he said after attending the ‘Rindok Raya’ Open House programme hosted by the Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) on April 17, as reported by TVS.
He added that although the appointment process is ongoing, Affin Bank is operating well and is not facing significant issues in its daily operations.
However, he noted that cooperation with external parties, including the Sarawak government, requires consideration from Bank Negara before any decisions can be made.
“If there are other parties interested in collaborating with Affin Bank or the Sarawak government, we will look into it further.
“Should there be any partnerships to pursue, and if there are interested external parties, we will consider them,” he said. — DayakDaily
