KUCHING, Nov 5: An Indonesian maid is among the six cases tested positive for Covid-19 in Kuching today, thus increasing the state tally of positive cases to 942.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said that of the new cases, one was linked to the Greenhill Cluster, three linked to Wisma Saberkas Cluster, and two cases with unknown links.

“Case 939 involved an Indonesian maid who is the close contact of Case 818 reported on Oct 27. She underwent testing on Oct 27 through the close contact screening but her first test was negative and the second test on Nov 4 was positive.

“She did not show any symptoms. She also did not have a travel history back to her home country or visited high-risk areas in the last three months,” he told a press conference on Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, here, today.

For the Wisma Saberkas Cluster, Uggah informed that Case 938 was a local man who had visited the mall and was detected following testing at a private hospital.

“Case 940 is a local man who underwent testing at a private laboratory following close contact with Case 932 reported on Nov 4, while Case 941 involved a local woman who had visited the mall and was detected from testing at a private laboratory,” he said.

Uggah, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, added that Case 939 was detected following screening at a private hospital after she fell sick.

“The case has no travel history out of the country or visited any high-risk areas in the country in the last three months. Investigation and close contact tracing are currently being carried out,” he said.

Case 942, he continued, involved a worker in a gym who was detected following screening at a government health clinic after a bout of coughing and fever since Oct 30.

“She also did not travel out of the country or visited any high-risk places in the last three months. The cause of infection is still being investigated,” he added.

All the six cases are isolated and treated at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

Meanwhile, Kuching remained as a red zone with total 122 local transmission cases recorded within the past 14 days while Lundu, Miri and Limbang maintained as yellow zones.

Six active clusters remained as of today namely Baki Cluster (30 cases excluding 12 cases reported in Perak linked to this cluster), Greenhill Cluster (64 cases with two patients recovered while six still awaiting results), Wisma Saberkas Cluster (19 cases with 15 still awaiting results), Bah Arnab Cluster (12 cases), Seladah Cluster (7 cases) and Putra Cluster in Bintulu (5 cases).
