KUCHING, June 10: The popular Japanese hobby of cosplay (costume play) is on full display at the Torabera ACG Fest 2.0 at The Spring Shopping Mall in Kuching from June 9-11.
Apart from meeting many talented artists showing off their skills in cosplay, visitors can also purchase anime-related items on a dedicated floor for vendors selling collectables.
Speaking at the launch today, Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said an occasion like this brings together people from all walks of life who share a common passion for the vibrant and captivating world of anime.
“This event is a celebration of that diversity, a melting pot of creativity, and a platform for fans, creators, and industry professionals to come together, forge connections, and revel in the magic of anime.
“Everyone will have the opportunity to explore the latest trends, discover new talents, and engage in meaningful discussions about anime’s past, present, and future,” he said.
Wee opines anime has transcended borders, cultures, and generations while captivating hearts and minds worldwide.
He added that it can transport fans to fantastical realms, ignite their imagination, and evoke a wide range of emotions.
“Whether we are drawn to the epic adventures of shonen anime, the poignant narratives of slice-of-life dramas, or the visually stunning artistry of the medium, anime has something for everyone.
“It inspires, educates, and fosters a sense of community. This is also an opportunity for us to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the countless animators, directors, voice actors, and production teams who bring these incredible stories to life,” Wee said. — DayakDaily
