‘I’ll sink and swim with PSB’ — Ranum

Datuk Ranum Mina

KUCHING, July 13: Opar assemblyman Datuk Ranum Mina said he will “sink and swim” with Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) regardless of its future in the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS)-led state government.

Describing himself as a “person with principles”, he believed that staying with the party was the “right thing to do”.

“I will stay with PSB and I will not leave,” the party senior vice-president told DayakDaily today.

When asked for his comment on the PSB former deputy president Datuk Dr Jerip Susil’s abrupt resignation two days ago, Ranum expressed shocked by the latter’s departure.

“Just the day before, we promised to stay united,” he said.

Both Ranum and Dr Jerip, along with PSB president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh, senior vice-president Datuk Tiong Thai King and vice-president Johnical Rayong, were among the founding leaders of the party.

PSB, formerly known as United People’s Party (UPP), was a splinter group of Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP).

Attempts to reach out to Dr Jerip has been futile since his resignation.

However, it was reported that he has not considered his next move. Many speculated that he was keen on joining Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), the lynchpin of GPS.

Since his Mambong constituency was traditionally allocated to SUPP, Dr Jerip has also been invited by SUPP leaders to rejoin his former party. — DayakDaily
