SANTUBONG, June 19: Aside from enjoying the sights and sounds of the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) and making beautiful memories, thousands of visitors also got to taste and savour local Sarawak cuisine over the last three days.
Over the course of the three-day music festival at Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV), RWMF gave thousands of festival goers the opportunity to try a range of local food and delicacies to their heart’s content.
Whether rain or shine, humid or cool, from afternoon to evening, the RWMF food village was a buzzing hive of activity.
Hungry festival goers were spoilt for choice, from mild to spicy food, to casual finger food, to a wide array of different ethnic cuisines from Malay, Iban, Bidayuh, Melanau, Orang Ulu, Malay, Chinese and many more.
Visitors also got the chance to get a taste of international cuisines such as Thai, Korean, Middle Eastern and Western at the venue.
Since no outside food or beverages were allowed to be brought to the festival site, the food village was obviously a major hit, with many customers coming back several times a day despite prices being higher than those charged off-site.
Meanwhile, the arts and crafts area as well as sales counter for festival memorabilia and Sarawak souvenirs also contributed to the fun-filled, wholesome festival experience.
These booths also saw many taking the opportunity to buy handicrafts as ‘proof’ of their presence at the iconic Sarawak festival.
The 25th RWMF was set against the magnificient backdrop of the legendary Mount Santubong.
Musicians from all over the world including from Italy, United States of America, Canada, Australia, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, Vietnam, Estonia, and Madagascar performed in the forest open-air setting of the SCV.
