Hulu Rajang MP: Every citizen deserves adequate medical treatment

KUCHING, Nov 12: Every citizen in the country deserves adequate medical treatment in an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19, opined Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong.

According to a report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Ugak said with the country still battling the pandemic, the people in urban and rural areas need to be provided with the same medical support system.

“Rural clinics need to be equipped with other support systems such as medicines, health kits, personal protective equipment (PPE) as well as many others to ensure that everyone receives the same medical treatment, regardless of whether they are in urban or rural areas,” he said when debating the Supply Bill 2022 during the Parliamentary session, yesterday.

At the same time,Ugak also requested to the Ministry of Health (MoH) to conduct a study on the number of additional dialysis machines that should be given to clinics in Sg. Asap, Belaga and Tubau.

“It doesn’t matter how many as even one machine in each location is enough. This is a grievance for the community in my constituency, and the number of people with kidney problems is increasing in the rural areas,” he added.

He also called for a continuous education programme to be implemented in order to educate the younger generation about the disease. — DayakDaily
