KUCHING, Mar 20: The Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) fundraising dinner, organised by DAP Socialist Youth (Dapsy) Kuching, saw a large crowd as party members and supporters turned up in droves last night (March 19) at a restaurant in Kuching to show their support.

The Sarawak DAP fundraising dinner was overwhelmingly well-attended by party members and supporters last night (Mar 19, 2023).

In his speech, organising chairman George Lam, who is also Dapsy Kuching chief, said over 1,000 people were attending the fundraising dinner.

“I want to thank everyone who is attending the fundraising dinner tonight. Dapsy Kuching will always stand by the people and provide the best service possible,” Lam said.

Meanwhile, Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen expressed his gratitude for the contributions to the party during the fundraising dinner.

“The Dapsy Kuching fundraising dinner was a success, raising a total of RM10,428. I thank all party members and supporters for their contributions,” Chong said, adding Sarawak DAP will continue to be the voice of the youth in the present and the future.

“Sarawak DAP will also continue to perform admirably as Sarawak’s opposition, keeping the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government in check.

“DAP, being part of the unity government with GPS at the federal level while remaining in the Opposition at the regional level is not easy, but we will continue to speak out if the federal or Sarawak policies are not in the best interests of the people,” he added.

Speakers at the ‘Change We Must’ fundraising dinner included Chong’s special assistants, Sim Kiat Leng and Michael Kong; deputy organising chairman and Chong’s assistant, Jordan Soo; federal Communications and Digital Deputy Minister Teo Nie Ching; Sabah Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship minister Phoong Jin Zhe; Pahang Legislative Assembly deputy speaker Lee Chin Chen; and Chong himself.

All of the speakers shared their experiences and perspectives on the political climate in Sarawak, Sabah, and Malaysia as a whole. — DayakDaily
