KUCHING, Dec 19: Carolling house-to-house is prohibited this Christmas and open house can only be held on Christmas Day (Dec 25) for immediate family members.

These are among the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the prevention of Covid-19 released in conjunction with Christmas by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

SDMC said open house receptions at houses of worship, church halls and public places are also not allowed.

The committee added all kinds of sales activities in conjunction with Christmas celebration are prohibited.

However, worship and prayers will be allowed at houses of worship on Christmas Eve (Dec 24) from 6pm until 1am (Dec 25) and on Christmas Day (Dec 25) from 6am until 12 midnight with adherence to SOPs.

Congregation size is limited to 50 per cent of the worship hall’s capacity.

The frequency of worship and prayer sessions are dependent on the church’s arrangement, and sanitisation must be conducted between each session.

SDMC also reminded Christians to always abide with the SOPs, including wearing face masks and maintaining physical distancing. — DayakDaily
