Heavy rainfall, strong winds cause flash floods, fallen trees in Kuching

KUCHING, May 11: Heavy rainfall and strong winds have resulted in flash floods and fallen trees in certain areas in Kuching.

According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre today, based on the flood monitoring report in Kuching, traffic flow along Padang Merdeka, Jalan Kampung Kudai, Jalan Tabuan, and Jalan Pending Bypass is under control after the flash flood receded.

In Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakup, Bomba Petra Jaya responded to a call regarding fallen trees that blocked half of the road and impeded traffic flow.

The clearing operation took about 30 minutes with the help of a private company excavator stationed at the nearby construction site. — DayakDaily
