KUCHING, Oct 5: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds have been predicted for several areas in Sarawak until 9pm today.
According to an advisory from the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) in a Facebook post at 6pm today, the affected areas are Sarikei and Mukah (Tanjung Manis and Daro).
The department said a warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with an intensity of rain exceeding 20mm/hour that is close or expected to occur for more than an hour.
It added that a thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release. — DayakDaily
