KUCHING, Oct 8: Heavy rain and strong wind are expected in eight districts in Sarawak today.
According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) in a Facebook post at 2.10pm today, the affected areas are Kuching, Samarahan (Samarahan and Asajaya), Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Kapit (Kapit and Song) and Bintulu (Tatau).
The department said that the warning which is valid until 5pm today is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rain intensity exceeding 20 mm per hour, which is expected to occur close to or more than one hour.
It added that a thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release. — DayakDaily
