KUCHING, Nov 5: The helicopter which landed on an open field near a residential area in Kidurong, Bintulu, yesterday (Nov 4) was not involved in any Flying Doctor Service (FDS) or Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC) mission under the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) or Sarawak State Health Department (JKNS).
In a statement today, JKNS clarified that the incident on Nov 4 had no connection with its FDS operations or personnel, following the circulation of videos and media reports about the helicopter landing.
The department said FDS and MEDEVAC services in Sarawak remained temporarily suspended and were still being evaluated by MOH, as stated in the ministry’s media statement dated Sept 10, 2026.
It said the ongoing evaluation took into account safety, the welfare of personnel and operational readiness before the services could resume.
“We wish to stress that the helicopter landing incident did not involve FDS operations or healthcare personnel.
“The public is advised against speculating or spreading unverified information and should instead refer to official sources for accurate information,” it said.
The department also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of healthcare personnel and patients, as well as delivering safe and quality healthcare services to communities throughout Sarawak. — DayakDaily
