KUCHING, Sept 4: Sarawak Financial Secretary Dato’ Sri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar has been reappointed as a member of the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (HASiL) Board, representing Sarawak, for a further two-year term effective from Aug 1, 2026, until July 31, 2028.
In a statement today, HASiL said Wan Lizozman’s reappointment was made alongside the appointment of two new board members, namely Kota Kinabalu Mayor Dato’ Sri Dr Sabin Samitah, representing Sabah, and parliamentary draftsman Farahana Rabidin, representing the Attorney General.
Wan Lizozman, who serves as Sarawak’s Financial Secretary, will continue to represent the State on the board as HASiL seeks to strengthen governance and enhance the administration of the nation’s revenue system.
Meanwhile, Sabin brings extensive experience in taxation, financial crime prevention and public administration. He previously headed HASiL as chief executive officer and director general of Inland Revenue before serving as director general of the National Centre for Financial Crime Prevention (NFCC). He was subsequently appointed Mayor of Kota Kinabalu.
HASiL said Sabin’s broad expertise would support efforts to strengthen the agency’s strategic direction and governance framework.
Farahana, who currently serves in the Drafting Division of the Attorney General’s Chambers, has extensive experience in legislative drafting and legal affairs. She is also a member of the Board of Governors of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka.
According to HASiL, her legal expertise is expected to contribute towards strengthening governance, as well as policy and legislative considerations in carrying out the agency’s responsibilities.
HASiL welcomed the appointments of Sabin and Farahana, as well as Wan Lizozman’s reappointment, expressing confidence that their collective experience and expertise would further support the agency’s ongoing efforts to improve revenue administration and institutional governance. — DayakDaily
