KUCHING, May 31: Kuching-China Trader, Importer and Exporter Association chairman Datuk Yii Ming Tang says the guild firmly supports the Malaysian government’s one-China policy.
Yii noted that China’s reform and opening up have led to unprecedented comprehensive development.
“The ‘Belt and Road’ initiative, advocated by Chinese President Xi Jinping for over a decade, has achieved remarkable success and global recognition.
“As overseas business organisations, we need to actively participate in economic and cultural development. Such opportunities are rare and will not come again,” said Yii during an exchange dinner with the visiting delegation of the World Youth Business Economic and Cultural Exchange Center on Thursday (May 30).
He also highlighted the rapid development of science and technology and the explosion of information, which have greatly improved people’s lives and productivity.
This progress, however, has also led to increased fraud, making it difficult to distinguish between true and false information, he warned.
“Therefore, physical transactions are becoming more important,” said Yii.
Yii said the members of the association are involved in a wide range of industries, which allows for significant opportunities for collaboration and mutual support. — DayakDaily
