KUCHING, May 14: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) is proud to announce a lineup of exciting events to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations.

A press release issued today revealed highlights include a Fujian Province’s delicacies food tasting scheduled to take place this month, promising to tantalise attendees’ taste buds.

Additionally, there will also be a stirring lighting ceremony, symbolising the enduring friendship between Malaysia and China, which will illuminate the city skyline. The date for this spectacle will be announced soon.

In June, Chinese chess enthusiasts will have the opportunity to showcase their prowess in strategy in a thrilling competition, followed by a cheongsam parade and competition in October.

Later in November, there will be a Friendship Walk, which aims to foster bonds of camaraderie and understanding.

While additional activities such as cultural exchanges, gastronomy showcases, performances, and sports events are yet to be confirmed, MBKS assures the community of a memorable and diverse celebration of this momentous milestone in Malaysia-China relations.

“We are thrilled to mark this significant anniversary with a series of engaging events that highlight the cultural, culinary, and historical ties between Malaysia and China,” said MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng.
