KUCHING, Aug 15: A guidebook outlining the duties and responsibilities of village chiefs in Mambong constituency is now available.
The book, the first of its kind in the region and meant to be used as reference on how to administer a village and protocol for organising events, was made possible through an allocation from Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, who is also Mambong assemblyman.
At the book presentation ceremony at the Padawan sub-district office today, Dr Jerip thanked Sarawak Administrative Officer Julius Scott Sapong for initiating the book which will enable community leaders to carry out their duties well and effectively administer their respective villages.
“The book comes at the right time, particularly when the role of community leaders is becoming more challenging and community leaders are more educated,” Dr Jerip said.
He added that the book, which will be distributed to all village chiefs in the constituency will greatly help the respective villages to organise bigger events in a more orderly manner.
Dr Jerip said he has observed that several villages were not confident in holding events, and thus, the book would be of great benefit.
“With the book outlining the proper ways of handling events, it will portray a positive image of your village,” Dr Jerip asserted.
Meanwhile, Julius said the book will also greatly help in the process of writing meeting minutes and project applications.
