SIBU, Aug 15: A 59-year-old man has died after a tree collapsed on him while he was tending to his farm in Pantu Mali, Jalan Lukut Penyulau in Kanowit today.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak responded to a distress call received at 12pm.
Swiftly mobilising a team to the scene, they arrived to find an unconscious victim, identified as a Chinese man, who appeared to have been struck by a falling tree while engaged in tree felling activities on the farm.
Prior to the firefighters’ arrival, concerned members of the public had already moved the victim to an open area within the farm.
The Bomba team, after assessing the situation, coordinated with the Ministry of Health. Tragically, he was officially pronounced dead on-site.
The deceased was handed over to the police for further necessary procedures. The operation concluded at 1.30pm. — DayakDaily
