KUCHING, Dec 19: Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) landslide victory in the 12th Sarawak Election reflects the people’s high level of confidence and satisfaction on the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Its Women chief Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, said the people witnessed unprecedented development at State or micro-level at each constituency.
“The people viewed GPS as a government that walks the talk and hence, are looking forward to continuous development and inclusivity.
“It is for this reason that I sincerely hope there will be an increase in Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) and Minor Rural Project (MRP) funds for implementation of projects at each constituency level including repair and upgrading of houses for the poor,” she said in a statement today.
Fatimah, who has won the N56 Dalat State seat, also mentioned that she looked forward to more women representation from component parties in the future, adding that women’s empowerment in politics and entrepreneurship need to be intensified.
“We have five years to carry out what we promised in our election manifesto and with Abang Johari leading the GPS team and efficient civil service, Insya-Allah it will be done,” she emphasised. ― DayakDaily
