KUCHING, April 19: The Federal government has agreed to review the criteria and conditions of the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme for it to be more competitive.
Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dato Sri Tiong King Sing said the decision came after a meeting with Home Minister secretary-general Datuk Ruji Ubi in Putrajaya on Monday (April 17).
He said both parties also agreed for agencies under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) to promote and recommend the MM2H programme application through the MM2H One Stop Centre.
The one stop centre allows foreigners who wish to apply for the MM2H pass to find all necessary information and details all at one place, and therefore expedite the application process.
“This center will help applicants process applications and collect necessary materials, which will then be forwarded directly to KDN (Home Ministry) or the Malaysian Immigration Department for the processing and issuance of MM2H passes,” said Tiong in a statement yesterday (April 18).
Meanwhile, Tiong also stressed the need to review the Visa On Arrival (VOA) facilities especially for visitors from China and India so that Malaysia remains competitive at international level.
“MOTAC hopes that all parties are supportive of the government’s intention to improve the MM2H program and re-introduce VOA so that they can help to generate national economy,” he added. — DayakDaily
