MUKAH, Nov 18: The Sibu General Operations Force (GOF) seized RM793,500 worth of illegal logs and machinery from a logging site at Jalan Bukit Engkrabai, Lubok Bemban yesterday.
“An operation under ‘Ops Libas’ was carried out at the site for suspected logging activities. During the raid, our officers discovered 80 logs of various sizes which had been cut, three excavators, one truck, one chainsaw, two water pumps and one generator,” Sarawak GOF commander SAC Mancha Ata disclosed in a statement.
Two local men were also detained for further investigation.
The seized items and suspects were handed over to the Forestry Department Sibu regional office for further action under Section 96 of the Sarawak Forest Ordinance 2015.
Meanwhile, Mancha revealed that as of Nov 17, Sarawak GOF has seized a total of RM35,917,417 worth of goods and assets under Ops Libas from 149 cases which also saw the arrests of 182 locals and 230 foreigners. — DayakDaily
