BINTULU, Dec 8: The 12th Battalion Miri General Operations Force (GOF) seized over 2,400 cartons of contraband cigarettes worth RM578,880 during a raid here yesterday.
However, no arrest was made during the “Ops Libas” at 12.40pm at a building at Jalan Tun Hussein Onn.
“There were no caretakers or owners inside the building when the team raided the premise. Further checks on the premise led to the finding of the contraband cigarettes.
“The operation as carried out following six hours of surveillance,” GOF 12th Battalion commander Supt Tan Hiap Seng said.
The case is being investigated under Section 135 (1)(d) of the Custom Act 1967, for possession of goods not approved by Customs. — DayakDaily
