BINTULU, Nov 6: From a fishing village to competitive industrial hub, P217 Bintulu has grown from strength to strength thanks to Dato Sri Tiong King Sing (GPS-PDP) who has ushered continuous development into the federal constituency.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Sarawak Food Industries, Commodities and Regional Development Minister Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said the five-term incumbent has proven that only Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) can successfully develop Bintulu.

“Dato Sri Tiong has shown good work especially in bringing continuous development in Bintulu.

“He has worked hard in defending the rights of the people and changing the landscape of Bintulu from a fishing village to a competitive industrial hub or city,” he said when met at the Bintulu Civic Centre nomination centre yesterday.

He also called upon voters in P217 Bintulu to continue giving support to Tiong who will be bidding for his the sixth term as Bintulu MP in the 15th General Election (GE15).

“This is the time for leaders and people to make a good decision for the sake of political stability, to make Sarawak an example in Malaysia that has succeeded in uniting the people and fighting for a stable government for Malaysia,” he added.

Tiong who is the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president, had served as Bintulu MP since 1999 when he won the seat from the then incumbent Chiew Chiu Sing of Democratic Action Party (DAP) with a 1,400-vote majority. — DayakDaily
