KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14: United Asiapac Energy Berhad has been listed on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia today—an achievement that marks an important step towards increasing the participation of Sarawak Bumiputera companies in the country’s capital market.
According to a press release, United Asiapac is a Sarawak Bumiputera company that provides specialised well intervention solutions for the upstream oil and gas industry.
Its listing marks the first achievement towards the target of having three Sarawak Bumiputera companies listed on Bursa Malaysia by 2030.
Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister of International Trade, Industry, and Investment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan congratulated United Asiapac’s board of directors, management, and employees on the achievement.
“The listing of United Asiapac proves that Bumiputera companies from Sarawak have the capability, expertise and aspirations to grow and compete on a larger scale,” he said in his speech, which was read by the Ministry of International Trade, Industry, and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED) Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Adviser Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais at the listing ceremony here today.
He said that the Sarawak government recognises that some companies can achieve a listing through their own efforts and capabilities.
At the same time, the government will continue supporting potential Bumiputera companies through structured development and mentoring, or a grooming process, to help them progress from micro-enterprises to small and medium enterprises and eventually become large companies ready for listing.
“The government’s role is to open pathways, provide guidance and connect potential companies with the financing, markets and expertise they need to grow,” he said.
To support this effort, the Sarawak government, through MINTRED, will continue strengthening cooperation with federal and State agencies as well as strategic partners.
The collaboration is also carried out through the Sarawak Entrepreneur Development Coordination Committee (SEDCC), a platform for coordination and information-sharing between Federal and State agencies coordinated by MINTRED.
The Sarawak government also expressed appreciation for the Ministry of Economy’s guidance and support, including through the Bumiputera Economic Council chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
At the State level, the Sarawak Bumiputera Economic Council serves as the main platform for setting priorities and driving Bumiputera economic development initiatives in Sarawak.
In line with this direction, the Sarawak government has introduced the ‘3-7-20 Strategic Framework’ which sets a target of listing three Sarawak Bumiputera companies on Bursa Malaysia, developing seven Bumiputera Champion companies in strategic sectors, and helping 20 per cent of potential Bumiputera micro-enterprises transition into private limited companies by 2030.
“United Asiapac must leverage its status as a listed company to expand its market, enhance competitiveness and explore new opportunities. This success is also expected to create more opportunities for workers, vendors and local enterprises in Sarawak,” said Awang Tengah.
On Sunday (Sept 13), he announced that a Sarawakian Bumiputera-owned oil and gas enterprise will debut on Bursa Malaysia today, marking a major milestone in expanding Bumiputera ownership and presence across the State’s corporate sector. — DayakDaily
