Four nature reserves in Sarawak now open for exercises, jogging only

KUCHING, July 14: Four nature reserves across Sarawak are now open for physical exercise and jogging only, effective today.

According to the latest standard operating procedures (SOP) released by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), four nature reserves including Sama Jaya Nature Reserve in Kuching, Bukit Lima Nature Reserve in Sibu, Piasau Nature Reserve in Miri and Bukit Sembiling Nature Reserve in Limbang are now open to the public for exercises and jogging.


As only physical exercises and jogging are allowed, other activities such as guided or unguided eco-tourism tours, trekking outside authorised trails; touching, disturbing or feeding wildlife; religious, social functions, seminars, workshops, training courses and exhibitions and picnickings and children playground recreational activities are not permitted.

Commercial filming is also prohibited unless one has prior approval from SDMC.

Those exercising or jogging in these nature reserves must comply strictly to the SOPs set by the Health Ministry including keeping a physical distance of at least one meter, wearing of face mask, body temperature checking and thorough hand-washing.

The opening hours for the four nature reserves are from 7am to 11am, 2pm to 6pm. These four nature reserves will be closed between 11am to 2pm. — DayakDaily
