KUCHING, Sept 16: Former Disney employee trainer and bestselling author Doug Lipp is scheduled to make an appearance as one of the speakers at the TTLx Summit 2022, a tourism conference that is taking place on Sept 20 and 21 at Chemsains Kuching.

Through exclusively recorded videos, Doug will be talking about Lessons from DisneyU: Leadership, Culture and Legendary Service to the delegates of the summit.

Another highlight would be the talk about Sustainable Tourism Development: Strategies and Priorities from Sustainability Leaders Project founder Dr Florian Kaefer.

Other topics by international speakers are How the Koreans Tourism Industry are Reinventing Themselves, Getting Ready for Singapore Tourists, Cultural Heritage Tourism: Redefining the True Meaning of Travel and more.

Place Borneo Sdn Bhd chief executive officer (CEO) and conference organiser Mona Manap said TTLx Summit will focus on discussing trends and new tourism prospects that can be adapted for Sarawak.

“Conference topics such as Future of Work, Sustainable Tourism Development, Tour Guiding in the New Normal are relevant as recent data shows we have a shortage of 20,000 workers in the country’s tourism industry.

“We need to strategise and find ways to attract not just tourists but more tourism players as well as find exciting ways to develop our tourism products and ensure sustainability,” she said in a statement today.

She also said that the conference will feature an Open Mic session for students and business owners to pitch and sell their skills, services and business products.

“There is also the Blackout Experience where delegates are blindfolded and will use their other senses to enjoy a talk given by a speaker with a unique story, with a surprise revelation at the end,” she added.
