Foreigner dies in Miri-Bintulu road accident

MIRI, Nov 9: A foreign male passenger in his 30s died after being ejected from a vehicle during a self-accident on Jalan Pan Borneo Miri-Bintulu on Tuesday night.

Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu reported that in the 9 pm incident, a four-wheel-drive (4WD) driven by a 41-year-old man, with the passenger on board, was heading towards Simpang Nga, Niah, when it crashed into concrete barriers placed on the left side of the road after losing control.

Due to the impact, the passenger, who was seated in the back bucket, was thrown out of the vehicle.

“The victim succumbed to injuries during treatment at Miri Hospital the next day (Wednesday) around 5.50 pm,” he said.

Meanwhile, the vehicle’s driver did not suffer any injuries.

The case is under investigation under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
