Food and drinks stalls operators and customers compounded for violating SOP

Customers of a stall caught for not observing SOPs by sitting too close to each other.

SIBU, July 9: Two food and drink stalls operators in Sibujaya and 19 of their customers were compounded last night for violating the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

They were caught at about 8.45pm in a RMCO enforcement operation led by Sibu district deputy police chief, Supt Collin Babat.

Also in the team were Sibu Crime Prevention and Community Policing Department, DSP Ariffin Bahar and Sibujaya police station chief, ASP Johnson.


According to Supt Collin, the suspects were caught for not observing social distancing at the two stalls.

“The two stalls were found in violation of the SOP by not ensuring social distancing in serving food and beverages. Nineteen customers which include 13 women were also brought to the Sibujaya police station,” he said.

All of them were later issued RM1,000 compounds.

The enforcement team had also issued six summonses to motorcyclists for not wearing helmet and other traffic offences.—DayakDaily
