Five suspects nabbed over break-in at Pibakis Lutong

MIRI, May 19: Police detained five men in connection with a break-in at the Association of Parents with Special Children (Pibakis) Centre in Lutong here, less than 24 hours after the incident.

During the intrusion, a 2,300-litre stainless steel water tank was stolen. Five locals, including two siblings, were picked up for questioning following several raids held on Saturday (May 18) evening.


The suspects are aged from 21 to 28.

Miri police chief, ACP Lim Meng Seah when contacted today, confrimed the arrests.

“The suspects were arrested during raids helds at four different locations, namely Kampung Merikan Lutong, Kampung Tulang Lutong, Kampung Pasir in Lutong and Kampung Pujut Padang Kerbau,” he said.

The recovered water tank which was stolen from the centre.

The first raid at Kampung Merikan in Lutong saw the arrrest of two siblings aged 28 and 21. The stolen water tank was also recovered by police.

The break-in is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.
