ASAJAYA, April 21: The first phase of Sambir Village Expansion Scheme is expected to be completed next year, says Sarawak Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
He said the project is currently ongoing where the contractors had finished ‘tembok tanah’ (filling work) for about 300 residential lots.
“Within this new housing area, there will be commercial lots, residential lots, and public facilities including a football field.
“I believe we will see this project fully completed in a few years’ time,” he told reporters after officiating at the Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah Unity Cup in conjunction with Kampung Sambir Football Tournament here today.
He further said the new residential lots are provided for the extended families residing in existing homes in Kampung Sambir.
“This is because we do not want to see our local residents move out from the constituency. Therefore, the new homes are meant for the extended families.
“For instance, if one family has about four to five children, at least one of the children will receive one house unit under the scheme.
“I believe that for the first phase. The houses will be allocated to those eligible next year,” he added.
Abdul Karim who is also Asajaya assemblyman, further said the new Sambir Mini Stadium project worth RM14 million will be equipped with floodlights.
With this facility, he believed that football finals could be held even after sundown. — DayakDaily
