KUCHING, May 17: Firefly, a subsidiary of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), yesterday launched its daily return flight services from Kota Kinabalu (BKI) to Kuching (KCH), Miri (MYY), Tawau (TWU) and Sandakan (SDK).
To commemorate the momentous occasion, Firefly together with the Sabah Tourism Board, Sarawak Tourism Board, and Sandakan Tourism Association hosted sent-off and welcoming ceremonies at BKI, KCH, and SDK for passengers departing and arriving on the inaugural flights.
Distinguished stakeholders and authorities from the respective state tourism bodies welcomed the passengers, which symbolises Firefly’s unwavering dedication to offering unparalleled customer services and maintaining the exceptional Malaysian Hospitality experience.
Meanwhile, Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) chief executive officer Sharzede Salleh Askor welcomed passengers from Kota Kinabalu to enjoy a unique plethora of culture, adventure, nature and festival offerings as well as relish on Sarawak’s diverse gastronomy delights.
“Being accessible to travellers is essential for the success of any tourist destination and we hope that it will encourage more potential visitors from Sabah to take the opportunity to explore the State and its many amazing attractions.
“In the future, we hope to strengthen our collaboration with Firefly and introduce other destinations in Sarawak,” she said in a statement today.
Earlier this year, Firefly launched its new cabin experience in Boeing 737-800 complete with 189 seats in Economy class.
It comes with a vibrant ambience and new features such as the new ergonomically designed seats with ample legroom, personal device holders and USB type A and C power outlets, enabling passengers to charge their devices conveniently from each seat. — DayakDaily
