MIRI, Dec 17: Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) director Khirudin Drahman said he enjoys good rapport with the mass media because he has great respect for the press.

In fact, he added, media practitioners and firefighters always have close collaboration.

“I believe we have much in common, despites differences in our professions. Our objective is the same, which is nation-building,” he said at the Bomba-Media appreciation night held here yesterday (Dec 16).

Stating that what journalists write has a strong impact on the community, Khirudin said: “Being aware of the media’s important role, we try to get connected with them.

“With over 30 years serving with Bomba, every time journalists approach me, I never turn them down because I know they are important.”
