KUCHING, March 8: A fire razed a seventeen-door longhouse in Kampung Long Kerangan Baram, Marudi, on March 6.
According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre yesterday (March 7), Bomba Marudi was informed about the incident through the station’s WhatsApp group on March 6 at 10.45pm.
Following that, a team of firefighters from Bomba Marudi was deployed the next day (March 7) and arrived at the location after six hours of travelling using a logging road in rainy conditions.
No extinguishing operations were conducted because the longhouse was destroyed in the incident, and no casualties were reported.
After taking details of the longhouse occupants, firefighters then assisted the Fire Investigation Division in conducting an investigation at the scene before leaving. — DayakDaily
