KUCHING, March 8: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s (Bersatu) amended constitution would not affect members who declare support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In a statement today, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Hulu Rajang branch chairman Abun Sui Anyit opined that Bersatu’s action (involving its MPs pledging support for the unity government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) is not too late as long as Registrar of Societies (ROS) has not approved the amendments that have been made.

“Even if it passes, for me, it will only affect (maybe) the MPs and the state assemblymen who took a stand after it was approved and not those who have taken a stand (retrospectively),” he said.

He said that there is still plenty of opportunity for assemblymen and MPs to support the government.

He added that the actions of Bersatu’s MPs to declare support for the Prime Minister are correct in their understanding because they know better what is best for their constituents.

Recently, former chief of Bersatu Selangor Leadership Council and Selat Klang assemblyman Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari declared support towards Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari after considering the Address of His Royal Highness The Sultan of Selangor who commended the Selangor government’s administration. — DayakDaily
