BINTANGOR, May 8: In a devastating incident on Tuesday evening (May 7), three blocks of worker quarters belonging to a wood processing company along Jalan Sungai Sian were engulfed in flames.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak swiftly responded to the emergency, dispatching a team from the Bintangor Station to the scene at 5.41pm.
Upon arrival, it was confirmed that the fire had consumed three blocks of the workers’ quarters, with one block containing 10 rooms.
One block was unoccupied at the time of the incident, while the other two blocks housed a total of 25 workers from Malaysia and Indonesia.
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or casualties.
Firefighters successfully put out the flames and ensured the safety of the site, including eliminating any remaining source of ignition before concluding the operation. — DayakDaily
