KUCHING, April 19: Is Kuching a Covid-19 red zone? What zone status is my district in now?
DayakDaily reporters were swamped by these questions today following Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg’s announcement that schools and tuition centres in Covid-19 red zones will be closed for two weeks starting tomorrow (April 20).
To sum it up, 18 districts in Sarawak are presently classfied as Covid-19 red zones. They are Kuching, Sibu, Miri, Bintulu, Belaga, Kanowit, Selangau, Saratok, Subis, Matu, Mukah, Sarikei, Beluru, Samarahan, Serian, Julau, Meradong and Kapit.
This is based on data taken from State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC)’s Covid-19 updates as of yesterday (April 18).
Covid-19 orange zones include Betong, Asajaya, Bukit Mabong, Sebauh, Sri Aman and Marudi while the yellow zones are Pusa, Song, Bau, Kabong, Dalat, Daro, Lubok Antu, Tatau, Tanjung Manis, Pakan, Tebedu and Limbang.
Meanwhile, Lawas, Telang Usan, Lundu and Simunjan are the only four Covid-19 green zones in Sarawak.
Noting that Covid-19 zone categorisation is subjected to change daily according to the number of local cases reported over the most recent two-week period, members of the public are encouraged to check SDMC’s official website at https://sarawakdisastermc.com/ or Facebook page “Sarawak Disaster Information” for the latest updates. ā DayakDaily
