KUCHING, Oct 7: Over half of the 3,000 new houses that the Federal government is planning to build in 2023 are in Sarawak and Sabah.
Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz said this when tabling the Budget 2023 in Dewan Rakyat today.
In addition, he said the government also proposed to increase the ceiling rate of new housing aids in the Borneo States, for example from RM68,000 to RM79,000 per unit.
“For urban areas, the People’s Housing Program (PPR) is provided with an allocation of RM367 million including new projects in Marang, Terenggau and Arau, Perlis for the benefit of 12,400 potential new residents.
“The Rumah Mesra Rakyat program involves the construction of 4,250 housing units with an allocation of RM358 million,” he added. — Dayakdaily
