Budget 2023: Early Schooling Aid (BAP) is for all students regardless of parent’s income limit

KUCHING, Oct 7: Early Schooling Aid (Bantuan Awal Persekolahan or BAP) will be given to all students regardless of their parent’s income limit, starting 2023.

Finance Minister Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said starting this year, the BAP rate has been increased to RM150 instead of RM100.

“For example, if a family has three children in school, then they are eligible to receive BAP of RM450.


“This aid will be distributed in January 2023 and is expected to ease the burden of parents who support school-going children,” he said when tablingthe Budget 2023 in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Meanwhile, on the Supplementary Food Programme (RMT), Tengku Zafrul said the government will increase the rate of RMT cooked food from RM2.50 to RM3.50 for Peninsular Malaysia and from RM3 to RM4 Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan.

According to Tengku Zafrul, the increase will take effect this month.

“A total of RM777 million is provided, which is a significant increase compared to RM280 million in 2020 due to the expansion of recipients, rate increases and the provision of daily milk supply.

“With that, more than 800 thousand students as well as 7,300 local food operators and milk suppliers will benefit from this improvement,” he added. — DayakDaily
