KUCHING, Oct 21: Sarawak Minister Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah has received a courtesy call from Sarawak Social Welfare Department (JKMS) director-general Dato Shaharuddin Abu Sohot in her office at Baitul Makmur II here today.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the courtesy visit was aimed at introducing the newly appointed director-general as well as exchange views on welfare issues and the management of service delivery in Sarawak.
Fatimah said among the topics discussed are the proposed construction of Taman Sinar Harapan Sarawak, the establishment of a children’s home in Miri and the application of two disaster storage depots in Sibu and Miri.
“The Children’s Home in Sarawak needed to be established as a nursery run by staff trained in early childhood care and education,” she said.
Amongst those present were Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Rosey Yunus, Deputy Minister for Community Wellbeing Development Mohamad Razi Sitam, the ministry’s permanent secretary Datu Dr Rashidah Bolhassan and Sarawak Social Welfare Department director Noriah Ahmad. — DayakDaily
