KUCHING, Oct 10: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera (PBB) Women will work together with Women’s wings of other Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component parties to ensure a handsome win for the coalition in the 15th General Election (GE15).
The GPS coalition comprises four component parties, namely PBB, Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP).
PBB Women chief Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said PBB Women has been on standby mode and anticipated the dissolution of Parliament after the tabling of Budget 2023 last Friday (Oct 7).
“Now that Parliament is dissolved, our Women’s Wing will have to go to the next stage of our preparation to help GPS win.
“PBB Women Wing knows its role very well as part of the PBB machinery to win the election. The meticulous role of tracking the voters is well understood by the Women taskforce.
“This time it is even more challenging because of the increase in the number of new voters—those aged 18 to 28—as well as those above this age but are also first-time voters,” she said in a statement today.
Fatimah who is also Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister-cum-Dalat assemblywoman further said that after the 12th Sarawak Election at the end of last year, she had given the directive to PBB Women to “keep the fire burning” and maintain their omnipresence at all levels through welfare-oriented activities and social events.
This, she said, was done through activities by Skuad Sayang and Biro Wanita with the tagline “Reaching Out, Touching Hearts, Engaging Minds”, with the support of the various elected representatives or party branch chiefs of the area as well as Members of Parliament (MPs).
