MIRI, Jan 28: A daring burglar sneaked into a house at Senadin Phase 5 here while an elderly couple, both in their 70s, were watching television with their grandchildren.

The burglar managed to flee with valuables and cash in the 10pm incident on Saturday.

It is understood that no one in the house realised what had happened until the septuagenarians’ son returned home from work and noticed a bedroom window ajar and his bedroom ransacked.

He immediately alerted the police, and Resident Committee (RC) members from Krokop, Saberkas, Pujut, Permy and Tudan also rushed to the house.

It is believed that the burglar had prised open an iron grill on a window to open a nearby door in order to gain entry into the house.

But the burglar did leave something behind — his shoe prints on a wall. — DayakDaily
