KUCHING, June 22: B40 families and single individuals will receive RM100 and RM50, respectively, from the government’s Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia (BKM) cash aid.

Prime Minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, when announcing this today, said this decision was made after taking into account the challenging costs of living and recent rise in food prices.

He said the BKM Phase 2 payment will involve an allocation of RM1.11 billion and each BKM recipient will receive up to RM400 depending on their respective BKM qualification category.

He also said the additional cash assistance paid together with the BKM Phase 2 payment totaled RM630 million.

“This aid will benefit almost 8.6 million recipients comprising four million households, 1.2 million senior citizens and 3.4 million single individuals.

“Each eligible recipient will receive the payment in stages starting June 27 (Monday) involving a total allocation of RM1.74 billion.

“This payment is also to ease the financial burden of the B40 group, especially since Hari Raya Aidiladha is around the corner,” he said via live telecast today.

Ismail Sabri said the payment status can be checked starting June 22 via https://bkm.hasil.gov.my. — DayakDaily
