KUCHING, Sept 25: Measures to keep essential goods adequately supplied and prices under control in Sarawak are being examined as the government works to ease cost of living pressures on the people.
Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the steps were discussed today during the Technical Price Stabilization Working Group Meeting in Sarawak Number 2 for 2026, which he chaired together with Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 & State- Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali.
He said the meeting examined various measures to ensure sufficient supply of goods, maintain price stability and safeguard the well-being of Sarawakians.
“Stable prices do not happen by chance. They require planning, coordination, and continuous action,” he said in a statement shared on his social media today.
Nanta said the efforts were crucial as global economic conditions continued to be shaped by geopolitical uncertainties.
He said the decisions and actions discussed would be translated into policies, action plans and more effective interventions to reduce pressure from rising living costs.
These efforts would also focus on strengthening supply chains and ensuring Sarawakians continued to have access to essential goods at reasonable prices.
Nanta stressed that the MADANI government remained committed to ensuring every policy delivered a tangible impact on the people.
“What matters is not just what is discussed in the meeting, but how the results of the discussion are translated into solutions that are felt by the people in the field,” he said. — DayakDaily
